A Dunedin City parishes Safeguarding Workshop will be held on Saturday 17th June at St Francis Xavier in Mornington from 1- 3pm. Nau mai haere mai.



Blessings and congratulations to Iosefa Setu who was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in Balclutha on the 20th May. This is the first ever permanent deacon ordained in our diocese

 Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop

125th Celebration

1898 - 2023

 

The 125th Anniversary Celebration of the arrival of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and her Sisters of St. Joseph to Port Chalmers was held on the Feast Day of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart, 19th March 2023, at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Port Chalmers. The cutting of the 125th Anniversary Cake was followed by a high afternoon tea, held in the Convent (Newport House) built in 1906 for the Sisters.  Read more about the celebrations here.

NZCBC Leadership changes

Bishop of Auckland Stephen Lowe (at right in photo) is now President of the NZ Catholic Bishops Conference, the national body for the bishops of Aotearoa New Zealand. Bishop of Dunedin Michael Dooley (left) is now the Vice President of the NZCBC.  Read more here
